Ain't nuthin' but a party ya'll.Ā A Chicago party to be exact... on public access! On Ultra High Frequencies,Ā Numero Group takes it back to 1982 to inspect the funky happenings of The Chicago Party dance show.Ā Ā Think low budget Soul Train with more spandex, jheri curl juice, lip syncing, andĀ gimmicks (ahem, magicians and contortionists) and you'll be on the right track.Ā If that isn't a recipe for some funky business, I don't know what is! Though the show was certainly outlandish and humorous in retrospect, the local music featured was undoubtedly funky and worth a revisit. It's a literalĀ treasure trove of electronic soul and boogie gems. Numero has collected these tracks, culled from self-released 45's and small run 12"s over two LPs for the boogie freaks. In addition, they've also put together a 100 minute video mixtape of some of the most insane moments from the show. Comes with full color booklet featuring detailed liner notes about the artists and packaged in interchangeable die-cut coverĀ via printed innersleeves. Recommended.
