Ween: Pure Guava (180g, Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
Nothing screams 1992 like Ween on a major label. Yes, this, their 3rd album, was released by Elektra Records, beginning a fruitful run of albums on the imprint that would last until 2000ās White Pepper, and itās pretty much impossible to imagineĀ the majors taking a chance on a band even remotely close to Ween in 2017. The albumās high production value makes their quirky experimental songwriting sound infinitely brighter than it did on their first two records which were recorded at home. Although heād never admit it in a million years, you can hear the seeds of Ariel Pinkās oddball pop foreshadowed on tracks like āSarah,ā āPumpinā 4 The Man,ā and āI Saw Gener Cryinā In His Sleep.ā Includes the non-edited version of āPush The Little Daisies.ā Quite possibly their finest record, and certainly the ideal jumping-off point for anyone curious about the weird world of Ween. Thankfully, many of their records have been made available via a number of fantastic pressings in recent years, with the notable exception of Pure Guava, which still has never been officially released on vinyl in the United States,Ā but this gorgeous 180 gram import pressing on two-tone magenta colored wax is really something to behold.
